“…this warm September sun which illuminates all creatures”

Henry David Thoreau

The warmth of the sun has been lingering, but school has definitely begun. The children are happy seeing old friends and making new ones. I look forward to seeing people at tonight’s Welcome Back Fiesta and at Coffee and… Friday morning.

Looking forward also, to the beginning of many Friday Morning Community Meetings.

For new families, Community Meeting is a weekly school celebration open to families. Stay after drop off, sing with us, see your children with classmates, and applaud our Kind Acts Award.

Next Friday, September 22nd , Community Meeting will feature an introduction of the CWS staff, so you can put faces to all those names that your children mention around the dinner table. That morning, there will also be the first General PTA meeting of the year. There are so many things to plan for and participate in to make this year special for all the children. Please come and lend your support!

On Tuesday, September 27, 2023, you are invited to Curriculum Night

3 K to 2nd grades will meet from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm

3rd to 5TH grade from 6:30 pm  to7:15 pm

Watch for a Bloomz message from your child’s teacher and always check the CWS Website calendar for updates.

The food pantry will be reopening in October with Tuesday morning and afternoon distribution. We could use some additional volunteers! Please reach out to me if you can help out on Monday afternoon, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm to help organize the supplies or Tuesday mornings from 7:30 am to 9:00 am to help distribute.

Also: Note about dismissal from the Staff:

Under a new agreement between the UFT and the DOE the rules state that the dismissal procedure must end by the official end of the school day.

All students must now be picked up between 2:45 and 2:50 pm

 (And 2:40 -2:45 for 3-k,PreK and K classes).

For this reason dismissal for all grades will begin 5 minutes earlier than last year
