January 1, 2021
Dear Families,
Happy new year! Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy 2021!
On Monday, January 4 our building will reopen for hybrid students and we will be following the Week 3 schedule (Mon – C, Tues – A, Wed – A, Thurs – B, Fri – C).
We’re asking you to help us do your part to keep all teachers and students in the building safe. If you have traveled to a noncontiguous state for more than 24 hours you must do a full quarantine of 14 days, or a shorter quarantine including a negative test within 3 days before you return to NY, 4 days of quarantine, and then another negative test in NY before your child can return to school. We urge you to follow this law and be extra cautious to keep our teachers and other students safe. You can always spend a few extra days doing remote learning if you have had extended exposure outside of your household over the last two weeks, just be in contact with your teacher to set this up. Details on NY restrictions are here.
If your child has had any COVID symptom (i.e. a fever, cough, or sore throat), the DOE has set the following policies:
If a student or staff member showed a symptom but tested negative for COVID-19, they can return to school only after:
● Being fever free 24 hours without the use of medication AND
● Overall symptoms are improving
If a student or staff member did not get tested for COVID-19 but showed a symptom, they can return to school only after:
● At least 10 days have passed since symptoms started AND
● They have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication AND
● Overall symptoms are improving
If a student or staff member is considered a close contact of an individual who has tested positive, they can return to school only after:
● Quarantining for 14-days since their last exposure to that case (even if you receive a subsequent negative COVID-19 test result)
Students in quarantine can participate in remote learning.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school healthy and safe.
Sincerely,
Maria
