Dear Families,

Happy Friday! Last night’s part two of our Honoring the Dream celebration was fantastic. All of the students from Helen’s, Kiara’s, Jess’s, Susan & Jeanette’s, Jeff’s, Molly & Crystal’s, Taylor & Caroline’s, and Carlos & Ava’s classes did an amazing job with their songs and skits – and then everyone performed again at community meeting this morning so that the other classes could also enjoy their hard work. Thank you to all the teachers, staff, students, parents, and families for joining us these past two weeks!

As a reminder, there is no school next Wednesday, January 29 in honor of Lunar New Year. Fall afterschool cubs end February 14 and the new spring afterschool clubs will begin immediately after midwinter break on February 24. Stay tuned for spring registration info, which will be coming soon.

Cold? Missing coats, hats, gloves? Please check the lost and found on the 2nd floor outside of the hydroponics lab – it is overflowing with lost jackets, hats, gloves, water bottles, and other items.

We continue to have illness spreading throughout our school and city including students in our school with confirmed cases of flu, strep, RSV, and other illnesses. If your child experiences coughing, scratchy throat, runny nose, and/or fever please make sure that your child sees a doctor for a diagnosis and treatment. Students with these symptoms should not come to school. Per DOE policy, students may not return to school until it has been at least 24 hours since they had a fever without the use of fever reducing medications – for instance, if they have a fever on Thursday morning they may not return to school on Friday.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Wednesday, January 29: No School (Lunar New Year)
  • Wednesday, February 12: Photo Makeup/Retakes/Sibling Photos
  • Friday, February 14: Last day of CWS fall afterschool clubs
  • Monday, February 17-Friday, February 21: No School (Midwinter Break)
  • Monday, February 24: First day of CWS spring afterschool clubs
  • Friday, February 28: 3K and PreK application deadline

Stay warm this weekend!

Best,
Maria
