Dear Families,
Welcome back and happy new year! I hope your new year is off to a good start and you enjoyed winter break. As a reminder, Monday, January 6 is a PROSE half-day with pickup at 11:30am for all students and lunch will be served before dismissal; there are no afterschool clubs and Campos does not pick up on PROSE half-days.
It was wonderful to be together again at this morning’s community meeting. Jeff’s class did a wonderful job presenting The Stinky Cheese Man, bravo!
On Thursday, January 16 and 23 at 5:30 pm we will host our annual MLK “Honoring the Dream” Celebration. This will happen over two evenings this year in the CWS auditorium. Classes will sing songs and act out skits that honor the memory of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Teachers will be sending more details home as they are confirmed. On Thursday, January 16 these classes will perform: Suma, Elyssa & Kimberly, Davon, Ally & Shelby, Miriam, Scott & Louise, and Chairin. On Thursday, January 23 these classes will perform: Helen, Kiara, Jess, Susan & Jeanette, Jeff, Molly & Crystal, Taylor & Caroline, and Carlos & Ava.
Our school, like the city, is experiencing a high volume of illnesses, including flu, norovirus, COVID, RSV, and whooping cough. If your child experiences coughing, scratchy throat, runny nose, and/or fever please make sure that your child sees a doctor for a diagnosis and treatment. Students with these symptoms should not come to school. Per DOE policy, students may not return to school until it has been at least 24 hours since they had a fever without the use of fever reducing medications – for instance, if they have a fever on Thursday morning they may not return to school on Friday.
Please check the lost and found on the 2nd floor outside of the hydroponics lab – it is overflowing with lost jackets, hats, gloves, water bottles, and other items.
Upcoming Dates:
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!
Warmly,
Maria
