Dear Families,

Thank you for a great first week back from winter break! We were happy to gather for community meeting this morning, and thank you to Kiara and Taylor’s class for sharing what activism means to them.

This kicks off our month of talking about being changemakers, which will culminate in the two-night MLK Jr Honoring the Dream celebration. Each night’s show will begin at 5:30pm and different classes will present on different nights: January 19 (Helen, Elyssa & Kimberly, Jeff, Aliceyn & Ally, Scott, Molly & Crystal, Chairin) and January 26 (Suma, Jess & Louise, Susan & Jesslyn, Davon, Taylor & Kiara, Miriam, Jessica & Luis).

Also a big thank you to those who took COVID tests before returning to school this week; some families received positive results and stayed home, which allowed us to minimize the spread in school. The city is still strongly suggesting everyone wear masks due to the higher viral spread of COVID, flu, and RSV. Additional test kits went home with students today. If a student is symptomatic, they should receive two negative antigen tests at least 24 hours apart, or a negative lab-based PCR test, before returning. They will also need to be masked for ten days.

There will be no school on Monday, January 16 and on Monday, January 23 there will be half day with 12pm noon pickup due to a PROSE teacher professional development.

Warmly,

Maria
