Dear Families,

Thank you to Chairin’s fifth grade class for hosting community meeting, the Karate Club for showing off their skills breaking boards, and to the PTA for another great Coffee And…! The weather has been unpredictable – cold in the mornings and warming up by lunchtime. Please dress your child in layers and write their name in all of their jackets/sweaters/hats. The lost and found is now located outside of the hydroponic lab on the second floor – if your child is missing something they should come by to look for it.

I hope you’ll join us for the PTA’s Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 26 at the school from 11:00am – 3:00pm. It will be a fun day of activities and community building!

Please spread the word about CWS! School tours have started for prospective families. Current families sharing about our school is one of the best ways new families find out about CWS.

On Thursday, October 31 we will have costume day and a special community meeting (there is no school on Friday, November 1) – this is the monthly schoolwide dress up day to support the 5th grade trip to Washington, DC. Costumes are not required, but if your child would like to dress in a costume this fall, this is their chance. Costumes may not be scary/violent/bloody, costume masks may not cover the face, and no toy weapons of any kind are allowed. Costumes must also be comfortable to be walked in and sat in all day, or please have your child wear their regular clothes underneath their costume if they choose to remove it. If you would like to support the 5th grade, you can send $2 in cash with your child, however this is not required in order to participate in costume day.

You may have heard that the one-story building next to the schoolyard was sold and is obtaining permits for demolition. The DOE will not be approving any plans that compromise any part of the schoolyard while school is in session.
