Dear Families,
Happy Friday! It was a great day seeing so many of our students in costume to support the fifth graders. Thank you to Ally and Aliceyn’s class for performing at community meeting this morning.
And a special thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended this morning’s PTA meeting and to the members of the PTA Executive Board for their hard work.
It was wonderful to see all the families who came out tonight to our first CWS Community Movie Night Under the Stars! Watching Coco on blankets and sharing our evening together was magical. This will be one of many of these events, and we will continue to offer free community events throughout this school year.
As a reminder – no costumes may be worn to school on Monday, as today was our school’s costume dress up day.
Next week are our first family conferences of the year – please be sure your student attends your virtual conference with you. Teachers are communicating with families with Bloomz to sign up for a specific conference time. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have not yet reserved a conference time. There will be half-day for all students with 12pm noon pickup next Thursday, November 3 due to conferences. There will be no afterschool clubs on Thursday – but clubs will be happening on Wednesday.
In addition to the half-day next Thursday, November 3, there is also no school on Tuesday, November 8 (election day) and Friday, November 11 (veterans day).
More and more students are falling sick – with colds, flu, and COVID. We are also seeing a rise in COVID cases where someone reports a negative rapid test but later tests positive on a lab-based PCR test. If your child is symptomatic please, please have them tested with a PCR. Per DOE policies – even if your child’s COVID test is negative they must wear a mask in school at all times for the next 10 days. It is also strongly suggested that your child wear a mask for 10 days from their last known exposure to a COVID-positive case.
Students should stay home while sick – this is an excused absence. Please do not send your child with symptoms of any illness to school while they are actively sick. This is one of the best ways to prevent spread of illness within our community. If your child has a fever they a required to stay home for 24 hours after their fever ends without the use of medicine. If they have a fever that ends on a Tuesday, and have received a negative COVID test, they cannot come back on Wednesday. They would wait until Thursday and need to wear a medical mask for 10 days since their symptoms started.
Enjoy your wonderful fall weekend!
Warmly,
Maria
