Dear Families,

First, there is no school tomorrow, Friday, November 1. It was wonderful to see so many children in costume today for our dress up day in support of the 5th grade trip to Washington, DC in the spring. Thanks to Chairin’s fifth grade class for drumming today at our special Thursday community meeting! Also a big thank you to the PTA for hosting a wonderful Harvest Fest event last Saturday and for so many families for coming and spending the day with us, including the first pie baking contest!

Next week, there is no school on Tuesday, November 5 for election day and Thursday, November 7 is a half-day with 11:30am pickup for all students due to family conferences (lunch will always be served on half-days).

Family conferences next week are a special tradition at CWS, and please be sure your student attends your conference with you. This is an opportunity to partner with your child and their teacher(s) to set goals for the school year. Teachers are communicating with families with Bloomz to sign up for a specific conference time. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have not yet reserved a conference time.

I hope you will join us at 9am on Thursday, November 14 we will host our 1st Annual Ruby Bridges Walk. This year we will join other schools nationwide to commemorate action taken by Ruby Bridges in 1960. The CWS community will begin the walk from the schoolyard at 9:00am and walk to Stuyvesant Park at 17th St and 2nd Ave to hear speakers and sing. We will then walk back to school. We appreciate our families for making this happen!
