Dear Families,
Happy Friday! We had a great day with community meeting and picture day! The first and second graders have started their water studies and shared some of their findings with us this morning. Second graders have also started their swimming classes, a beloved tradition thanks to a partnership with NYC Parks. Most of you had your family conferences this week, and I hope you enjoyed learning from your child and their teacher(s) what they have been working on and the goals they have set for the next few months. Please contact your child’s teacher if you still need to schedule your conference. As a reminder, there is no school next Tuesday, November 7.
I want to share that we have instituted new bathroom procedures for the safety and well-being of our students. While our youngest 3K and PreK students have bathrooms in their classrooms, our older students use shared bathrooms on each floor. Some students have not been making good decisions when in the bathrooms and have created health and safety concerns for themselves and other students. Older students will now have multiple scheduled times to visit the bathrooms so that there is nearby supervision available. Of course students can utilize the bathrooms at other times in the case of emergencies, and they will be taken to the closest bathroom by an adult.
The lost and found is overflowing with jackets and water bottles. Please check the lost and found box in the lobby for your child’s misplaced items. Lost and found items not claimed will be donated next week.
Joyce has sent home letters to families who need to provide updated immunization records. Please have your child’s doctor complete the form and return it ASAP.
