Dear Families,

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, November 11 for Veterans Day. Friday, November 15 is a half-day 11:30am pickup for a professional development afternoon. There are no clubs on either day.

In the midst of a week of big feelings, we held space for our students, families, and staff and found light in our community. At this morning’s community meeting, Miriam’s class did a wonderful job sharing about the history of elections and debates. Carlos and Ava’s class shared about the life of Ruby Bridges, explained more about the Ruby Bridges Walk next Thursday, and sang freedom songs with the school.

This week we also welcomed families into classrooms and zooms to discuss student goals in family conferences. If you haven’t yet met with your child’s teacher, please send them a Bloomz message to schedule one soon. 

I hope you will join us at 9am on Thursday, November 14 we will host our 1st Annual Ruby Bridges Walk. This year we will join other schools nationwide to commemorate action taken by Ruby Bridges in 1960. The CWS community will begin the walk from the schoolyard at 9:00am and walk to Stuyvesant Park at 17th St and 2nd Ave to hear speakers and sing. We will then walk back to school. We appreciate our families for making this happen!
