Dear Families,

The PTA’s Holiday Bazaar & All-Day Cafe is open until 4pm in the lobby – there’s still time to shop! It was a cold but amazing morning as our school marched around the neighborhood and in the schoolyard in memory of World AIDS Day. Our fifth graders also ventured uptown to Central Park East II to discuss the MLK’s Living the Dream Book Award process.

Our last day of school for December will be next Friday, December 20. School will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

I’m resharing here what I noted last week regarding safety around scooters and bicycles – recently multiple teachers and students have been injured by some of our students riding their scooters into the crowded sidewalks at arrival and dismissal. Please do not allow your child to ride their scooter or bicycle on the crowded sidewalk in front of the school, it puts the safety of others at risk! Regarding scooter storage in the yard, scooters have been carelessly thrown in the back area, getting tangled, and most importantly blocking the emergency exit stairs. We need all families to ensure that the scooters and bicycles are parked neatly and out of the way of the stairs, or we will not be able to accommodate scooter parking going forward. Safety comes first, so please help our community by taking caution when riding and parking scooters.
