We finally made it to winter break! Thank you for your partnership and support for these first three months of school. Our students have been doing great things! They are learning and growing together. Thank you to Miriam’s class for their community meeting presentation this morning. Congratulations to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Graders on their Wiring Celebrations this week! And a special thank you to Third Street Music School for inviting our fourth graders to attend their Nutcracker performance this week.
As a reminder, school will be closed beginning Monday, December 26 through Monday, January 2. School will reopen on Tuesday, January 3. We sent home additional rapid COVID-19 test kits this week. Students are strongly requested to take either a lab-based PCR test or two rapid tests 48 hours apart before returning to school on Tuesday, January 3. Students exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness will be sent home until they have tested negative for COVID-19, and they must still wear a mask for 10 days from the beginning of symptoms even if they are negative for COVID.
As a reminder, the FDA has extended the expiration date of these tests – the tests are good for much longer than what is printed on the box. Do not throw away your “expired” Flowflex rapid COVID-19 test kits. All of the Flowflex COVID test kits we have sent home have updated expiration dates from the FDA – they no longer expire based on what is printed on the box. Kits should be stored away from heat, extreme cold, and moisture. From the FDA website:

I ask that you please consider the health and safety of everyone in our school community, test your child before returning to school, and please do not send a sick student to school.
