Dear Families,
Thank you again for the care and generosity you have shown to our new families. We have welcomed over 30 new students in the last two weeks, and our existing CWS students have invited their new friends to play and learn alongside them. This morning at community meeting Chairin’s class performed as well as the students in the guitar afterschool club. Bravo!
This morning we also celebrated the official ribbon cutting for our Hydroponics Lab in partnership with NY Sun Works. We were excited to be joined by Council Member Carlina Rivera and District 1 Superintendent Carry Chan to celebrate this new science space in our school.
Today progress reports are going home. At CWS we are proud that our teachers take the time to write thorough narrative reports for each student, which go well beyond traditional graded reports. These progress reports are a great tool to see how your child is doing in school, and to set the stage for family conferences, which will happen in March after mid-winter break. Please sign and return the comment sheet in your child’s report envelope.
There is no school from February 18-26 due to mid-winter break. School will reopen on Monday, February 27. The current session of afterschool clubs end on Friday, February 17 and a new semester of clubs begins on Monday, February 27. Registration for afterschool clubs must be done online and registration closes this Sunday, February 12 at 9pm.
A note from our guidance counselor Jennifer Rios:
Next week (February 13-17) is Respect for All week. The mission of Respect for All week is to promote respect, acceptance, and inclusion for all through awareness and activities at CWS throughout the week. One way to show support is by wearing special items on different days.
Warmly,
Maria
