Dear Families,

We made it to spring break! School is closed next week and will reopen on Wednesday, May 1. This morning at community meeting Ally, Shelby, and Jess’ classes presented skits. Gary Morston, who for 26 years taught PreK, Science, Art and hosted our community meetings, also came to visit and sing with us. Parents and students who remember Gary were thrilled – and alumni from East Side Community High School heard he was visiting and came running down 12th Street to greet him. I’m so grateful for our CWS community!

Wednesday evening was an incredible celebration of 30 years of CWS! A huge thank you to all the parents, alumni, teachers, and staff who came to support this fundraiser and community event. And to the parents and friends who planned this event – your countless hours are so appreciated and I thank you for a wonderful event! And after putting on 30Palooza, parents and guardians returned this morning to organize and serve Coffee and… Wow!

As we look toward our final two months of the school year, please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 9. We will host a Transitions open house for parents and guardians with returning students who are currently in 3K through fourth grade to learn more about what the next grade at CWS looks like. More details will be shared after break.

Mark your calendars:

  • Monday, April 22-Tuesday, April 30 – No School (Spring Break/Passover) – school reopens Wednesday, May 1
  • Thursday, May 9 – Transitions evening presentation for adults at 5:30pm
  • Friday, May 24 – half-day 11:30am pickup for all students, no clubs (staff development)
  • Monday, May 27 – no school (Memorial Day)

I hope you have a restful and restorative spring break!
