Dear Families,

Happy Friday! This morning we enjoyed the drumming performance from our 3rd and 4th grade students, led by CWS parent and Third Street Music School teacher Amos. We were also treated to a guitar performance from Gene E-S in Ally and Shelby’s class. Bravo!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. Congratulations to the PTA on a wonderfully successful Arts & Science Fair last weekend, and thank you to all the families who joined us for this special day.

Due to the construction in East River Park, which has now closed the 10th St access bridge and playground, we will be reimagining our end-of-school-year celebration. On Friday, June 20 we will host our all-school Fun Run in the school yard. And then later that day there will be rotating field games for classes at various nearby locations. Please stay tuned for specific details from your child’s teacher.

Next week I have the pleasure of escorting our 5th grade students to Washington, DC. We are excited for a memorable trip!

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming dates:

  • Monday, May 26: No School (Memorial Day)
  • Thursday, June 5 – Friday, June 6: No School (Anniversary Day/Clerical Day)
  • Sunday, June 8 – Saturday, June 14: Virtual Book Fair with Barnes and Noble
  • Monday, June 9: Half-Day 11:30 pickup for all students (Prose Professional Development)
  • Thursday, June 19: No School (Juneteenth)
  • Friday, June 20: All-School Fun Run and Field Day Activities
  • Wednesday, June 25: Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony for fifth grade families
  • Thursday, June 26: Last Day of School!

We have 20 days of school left this school year! Let’s make them all count.

Enjoy your long weekend!

Warmly,
Maria
