We had a wonderful short week here at CWS both in and out of school. Today at community meeting we were treated to an outstanding dance show from our first and second graders led by Danita our wonderful dance teacher from Third Street Music School, funded by the PTA. Gary also joined us to sing with our fifth graders! I also had the pleasure of spending Tuesday through Thursday in Washington, DC with our fifth graders. We toured many monuments in Washington, DC, enjoyed a sunset cruise on the Potomac, and also met with Maryland Governor Wes Moore! Thank you to the PTA and our fifth grade families for making this such a special experience for our students. Our fourth graders also continued their immigration study by visiting Ellis Island this weekend. A great time was had by all!
As a reminder, there is no school next Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6. And then on Monday, June 9 we have our last PROSE teacher development day of the year with pickup at 11:30am for all students.
On Friday, June 20 we will host our all-school Fun Run in the school yard. And then later that day there will be rotating field games for classes at various nearby locations. Please stay tuned for specific details from your child’s teacher.
On Wednesday, June 25 we will host a moving up ceremony for fifth grade students and their families. More details will follow. Fifth grade is the only grade in which we host a formal year-end celebration.
