Happy Friday! This was a wonderful first full week. On Monday we welcomed many of our families to the Welcome Fiesta Potluck! Our PreK students joined our K-5 students for a great community meeting on mindfulness with Molly & Crystal’s class demonstrating some great yoga moves that students will learn during their in school yoga practice later this year.
I hope you will join us for Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 17: The evening for adults only and will be in your child’s classroom. This will be a time to chat with your child’s teacher to learn more about their plans for the school year. 3K through 2nd grade will be from 5:30-6:15pm and 3rd through 5th grade will be from 6:30-7:15pm. 5th grade caregivers will also have a middle school presentation in the library with Dorothy from 5:30-6:15pm. The CWS PTA is providing free childcare during curriculum night with advanced sign up required. Only Current CWS students may come for childcare, school rules apply, and no personal electronic devices are permitted. You must sign in your child before dropping them off, and sign them out once your session has ended. In order to ensure enough adult coverage, you must sign up for childcare in advance of Wednesday.
A reminder on Bloomz messages: Teachers cannot always check messages throughout the school day; if you have an emergency or need to change your child’s pickup plan, please call the front office at (212) 614-9531. Teachers will check their Bloomz messages once a day during parent engagement time and may need time to gather additional information before replying. Please do not expect replies on the evenings, weekends, and holidays. Also, when messaging your child’s teacher, please ensure only to select your child’s specific classroom teachers (not all teachers of the grade and administrators) – if there are two classroom teachers in your child’s class, please send your messages to them both jointly.
Monday, September 15 is the first day of CWS afterschool clubs. Pickup must be prompt at 4:45pm, lateness will not be tolerated. Unless you have signed up for extended aftercare, your child cannot remain in the building after 4:45pm. Extended day ends promptly at 5:45pm. Please email cwsclubs@gmail.com with any questions.
Please return the packet of important forms that Joyce sent home in backpacks last week – especially critical is the blue emergency contact form so that we can get in touch with you or backup contacts in the event of an emergency. If you have not already sent them in, please send them in on Monday. Even if you complete the form online, we must have a hard copy returned to us for us to have in the office in case of an emergency where technology is difficult.
As a reminder, all internet-enabled personal devices including cell phones and smart watches must be turned into your child’s classroom teacher at the beginning of each day and will be stored in a locked cabinet in the classroom and be given back to your child at the end of the school day.
