Dear Families,
Happy, happy Friday! Our first full week was a big success. Thank you to all the families who joined us for last night’s Welcome Fiesta. Also a big thank you to our fifth grade students who hosted community meeting this morning and led us in skit and song. We were happy to be joined by our PreK students today, and later this fall will be joined by our 3K students. Congratulations to the PTA who hosted their first Coffee and of the year this morning!
Lots of announcements this week:
Curriculum Night – Wednesday, September 25: The evening for adults only and will be in your child’s classroom. This will be a time to chat with your child’s teacher to learn more about their plans for the school year. Childcare for current CWS students only will be available. 3K through 2nd grade will be from 5:30-6:15pm and 3rd through 5th grade will be from 6:30-7:15pm.
Emergency forms – Please return the packet of important forms that Joyce sent home in backpacks last week – especially critical is the blue emergency contact form so that we can get in touch with you or backup contacts in the event of an emergency. If you have not already sent them in, please send them in on Monday. Even if you complete the form online, we must have a hard copy returned to us for us to have in the office in case of an emergency.
Housing forms – The DOE requires each family to submit a housing questionnaire each school year. These are going home today, please return yours next week.
Immunization forms – Some children received an immunization record in their backpack this week that must be completed by a medical professional and returned to the office.
Afterschool clubs – Clubs begin on Monday, September 16. Students must be picked up promptly at 4:45pm – weather permitting pickup will be in the schoolyard, or in inclement weather in the auditorium. If your child is registered for aftercare pickup is at 5:40pm in the lobby. Registration for afterschool clubs is closed.
Metrocards – The MTA has switched from Metrocards to OMNY cards. Unfortunately there is a glitch in our system that is not allowing us to activate these cards for students. We are working with the DOE to get this fixed soon, and apologize for the delay.
I also want to welcome George Morgan, who joined our office as administrative support and Nurse Dawn who has joined us as well.
