Dear Families,

Happy Friday! Thanks to Miriam’s class for hosting community meeting this morning, and congratulations to our first Kind Act Award recipients of the year. Please feel free to join us at 9am each Friday as we celebrate our community through songs and stories. Last night’s Welcome Fiesta was a great success. It was wonderful to have so many families, teachers, and staff come together to begin this school year. If you were not able to attend, we will continue to have additional community building events throughout the year.

***There is a change to our dismissal time beginning Monday, September 18. All students in 1st through 5th grade must be picked up between 2:45 and 2:50pm (and between 2:40-2:45pm for 3K, PreK, and Kindergarten). Unless your child is in CWS afterschool clubs, they must be picked up no later than 2:50pm under a new agreement between the UFT and the DOE, which states the dismissal procedure must end by the official end of the school day. Pickup will now begin 5 minutes earlier than last year, and you must ensure any outside afterschool providers are made aware of this change and all 1st through 5th grade students are picked up between 2:45-2:50pm.

Bloomz is a great way for families to communicate directly with their child’s teacher(s), but please keep in mind that teachers are unable to read and respond to Bloomz messages during the day while they are teaching. Please call the office with any urgent changes to pickup, etc. 212-614-9531

Please plan to attend Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 27: The evening for adults only. 3K through 2nd grade will be from 5:30-6:15 pm and 3rd through 5th grade will be from 6:30-7:15 pm. More details will come soon.

Reminder: There is no school on Monday, September 25 for Yom Kippur. There is also no school on Monday, October 9 for Indigenous Peoples’ Day/Italian Heritage Day.

Please return the packet of important forms that Joyce sent home in backpacks – especially critical is the emergency contact form so that we can get in touch with you or backup contacts in the event of an emergency. If you have not already sent them in, please send them in immediately. If you need another packet, please ask your child’s teacher.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,
Maria
