Dear Families,
This was a great week! We started off our morning today with a wonderful community meeting! We appreciate how many caregivers are able to join us, and we are excited to share our CWS traditions with you. Thank you to so many families for joining us on Wednesday at curriculum night, and to the PTA for providing childcare. If you weren’t able to attend, please read the curriculum letter your child’s teacher posted to Bloomz and reach out directly to them with any questions.
As a reminder there is no school next week on Tuesday, September 23 and Wednesday, September 24.
In order for Bloomz to be an effective communication tool, please ensure to only select your child’s specific classroom teacher(s) – not the default option of all teachers of the grade and administrators – when creating a message in Bloomz. If there are two classroom teachers in your child’s class, please send all of your messages to them both jointly. We will begin to delete message threads that have selected the entire grade and administrators.
While gathering in school is a welcome joy, unfortunately it can lead to the spread of illnesses. As a reminder, children who have been ill with a fever must be fever-free for a full 24-hours without the use of medication before they return to school. If your child is ill, please let your child’s teacher know.
We had our first successful fire drill yesterday. Per NYC requirements, we will have regular fire drills. These are currently scheduled for: 9/26, 10/24, 11/5, 11/18, 12/5, 12/16, 2/10, 3/27, 5/21. We will also have soft lockdown drills on 10/8, 3/4, 4/1, 6/2.
As a reminder, all internet-enabled personal devices including cell phones and smart watches must be turned into your child’s classroom teacher at the beginning of each day and will be stored in a locked cabinet in the classroom and be given back to your child at the end of the school day.
