Dear Families,

Happy, happy Friday! It was a joy to lead community meeting this morning and welcome our 3K students to community meeting for the first time! Wednesday night was special seeing so many families attend curriculum night and hear from the teachers about their plans for the year. If you weren’t able to attend, please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions. This was a week of many firsts, and our first and second grade students took the first field trip of the year to Tompkins Square Library. Our school values learning in and out of the classroom, and the other grades will be planning for additional trips.

Next week is a short week – there is no school on Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4. Also Monday, October 7 will be a half-day with pickup at 11:30am for all students.

If you’re looking for something to do tomorrow, Saturday, September 28, there is a free Climate Expo at the New York Hall of Science. Our hydroponic lab partner NY Sun Works has an exhibition there. The expo will be open from 4:00-7:00 pm and the address is: 47-01 111th St, Queens, NY 11368, United States.

We need you to return your completed paper blue card emergency form – we cannot quickly access this information on the online portal and the teachers need to be able to reach you quickly in the event of an emergency. Please send in the filled out paper copy. Likewise, we are required to collect the housing questionnaire form from all students annually. Please send this back next week. For families who received an immunization record form in their backpack, it must be returned completed in order for your child to attend per NY regulations.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Thursday-Friday, October 3-4: No School
  • Monday, October 7: Half-Day for all students, pickup at 11:30am (PROSE teacher development)
  • Monday, October 14: No School
  • Saturday, October 26: Harvest Festival

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Warmly,
Maria
