Happy Friday! Today was a cold one but our students still were able to learn, play, and grow together. It was wonderful to see so many more children back in school this week. As part of our two-month Honoring the Dream – Community Meeting series, this morning Elyssa & Kimberly’s class as well as Jess & Tiffany’s class performed. The video can be watched here.
I invite you to join the virtual Joint Public Hearing regarding EVCS’s possible relocation and merger with PS19 this Monday, January 24 at 6pm. Speaker signup begins at 5:30pm. This would affect CWS by allowing CWS to grow and have additional space in the building if EVCS relocates. You can join here.
Please continue to send your child to school in a well-fitting mask. Masks without nose pieces that fall down when the child is talking put others at risk. We will continue to provide children with surgical masks to wear in place of ill-fitting cloth masks.
Please test your child each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the LabQ van regardless of symptoms. These LabQ PCR tests have been a critical way for our community to detect asymptomatic infections as well as early infections before symptoms appear. We do not receive reports from LabQ or other external testing. Please message me on Bloomz if your child tests positive, anyone in your house tests positive, or if your child is a close contact of a positive case outside of school, so I can provide up-to-date guidance.
This week we had 7 new COVID cases across all 350+ members of our school community, and we have seen a dramatic decrease in new cases over the past two weeks following the citywide trends. But COVID isn’t gone yet! Our in-school mitigation efforts remain including open windows, mask wearing, and air purifiers in each classroom. Vaccination for all children and regular testing are the best way for us to limit the spread. Please do your part to keep our community safe and test your child regularly, and vaccinate them if you haven’t yet.
As a reminder, Friday, January 28 is a half-day with pickup at noon and there is no school on Tuesday, February 1.
Wishing you a warm and wonderful weekend,
