Happy Friday! It brings me such joy to see so many family members staying to watch our community meeting as our classes sing our cherished school songs and celebrate kind acts. Today we were able to celebrate the kind act of Emely our Crossing Guard on Avenue B who helps keep our students safe. We were delighted to be joined by NYC Councilwoman Carlina Rivera, NY State Senator Brad Hoylman, NY Assemblymember Harvey Epstein, a member of US Representative Carolyn Maloney’s office, representatives from CEC1, District 1 Superintendent Carry Chan, and other valuable community members. Here is a link to this week’s community meeting.
In two weeks we will have another CWS tradition – family conferences! At CWS students join these conferences with their teachers and parents/guardians to discuss their strengths and set goals for the next few months of learning. You will be receiving communications from your child’s teacher to schedule a conference. This fall they will all happen via zoom on November 3 and 4. You can always request a separate meeting if you need to meet without your child present, but for family conferences your child should attend.
Upcoming dates for your calendar: Wednesday, October 27 – CWS Book Share with free books! (weather permitting) Tuesday, November 2 – Every student will learn asynchronous/fully remote for Election Day (no in-person or live teaching) Wednesday, November 3 – Evening Family Conferences Thursday, November 4 – Half-Day Pickup at Noon; Afternoon Family Conference Friday, November 5 – Picture Day Thursday, November 11 – No School Sunday, November 14 – Harvest Festival
