Dear Families,

Happy Friday! First, two quick reminders: For families who arrive at school on bikes or scooters, please use the bike lane on 12th St and not the sidewalk to ride to school for everyone’s safety. Also, it is getting colder out and we will still be having students outside as much as possible for lunch, gym, and other activities. Please dress your child warmly with layers for their comfort.

It has been a busy week here at CWS as our students participated in our first themed dress up day. Students have also restarted many of their extracurricular classes (pictures visible in Bloomz):
– We are delighted to partner again with Third Street Music School (thanks to the PTA) who are providing music and dance enrichment classes to our students including African Drumming, Dance, and Music and Movement.
– We are also happy to welcome our new art teacher Taylor O’Hare who started with us this week. She will be with us full-time and will be working with our students on engaging art projects throughout the year. Welcome Taylor!
– Jean and Travis continue to provide wonderful physical education classes to all of our students and are happy to have our students outside and active while learning teamwork skills.
– Yoga will return this year as well and students will receive 14 weeks of yoga instruction in class.

Next week there are a lot of schedule changes, please note these for your calendar:
Tuesday, November 2 – No in-person school; Every student will learn asynchronous/fully remote (no in person or live teaching); no afterschool clubs
Wednesday, November 3 – Evening Family Conferences; no afterschool clubs
Thursday, November 4 – Half-Day Pickup at Noon 12pm (afternoon family conferences); no afterschool clubs

I also want to share an invitation to join the Campos Community Garden (where our 3rd Graders do their gardening projects) for their Dia de las Muertos events beginning November 1. Please see the flyers in English and Spanish in Bloomz.

 Warmly,
 Maria
