Dear Families,

Happy Friday! What a week. We had the first full five-day week in quite a while. Today we welcomed the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus at community meeting. It was wonderful to see the children excited by the engaging performers. You can watch the video at the bottom of this page. As it gets colder please label your children’s sweaters, coats, and hats – we have so many unlabeled lost and found items.

Next week is a short week with a half-day 12pm noon pickup on Wednesday and no school on Thursday and Friday

This week we were also delighted to get a (very last-minute) COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinic on Wednesday where we were able to vaccinate even more members of our community. So many CWS children have received the vaccine and are doing great! If you have yet to vaccinate your child between the ages of 5-11, I urge you to make an appointment today. Children who are not fully vaccinated will need to miss significant amounts of school if they are exposed to COVID, while their fully-vaccinated peers will be able to continue attending school in-person. In addition, children who receive their first shot in New York before December 19 will be entered in the statewide lottery for one of fifty free four-year college scholarships! This pandemic will not end without everyone taking care of one another, and part of this means all eligible children and adults receiving the safe and effective COVID vaccines which are readily available throughout the city. If you haven’t yet heard the good news, NYC has opened up adult booster eligibility, now all NYC adults are eligible for a third shot! You can get yours today! Go here schedule an appointment for your child or yourself.

A big thank you to all of the families who came out to the PTA’s Harvest Festival last Sunday. This is just one of many wonderful community-building events that our PTA hosts throughout the year. Special thank you to all the PTA helpers who made this event a success.

Since the PTA cannot host the regular in-person Holiday Bazaar this year, they have come up with a fantastic hybrid option. You can purchase items from local vendors who will offer 10% of sales to the PTA and you get to pick up your items from the school building in December without worrying about shipping hassles! You can look for participating retailers on the Holiday Bazaar website here.

Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you next week!

Warmly,

Maria
